My name is Germaine Newman and I am a fully qualified, traditional acupuncturist working from a relaxing clinic conveniently located in central Stroud.
I live locally with my partner and our 3 sons. Prior to having children, I worked as a project worker in a Therapeutic Community for adults with mental health problems. I have had a passion for Chinese Medicine for 20 years and trained in Shiatsu and worked as an onsite massage therapist in offices and festivals/events.
I have found acupuncture transformative for my own health issues and a real help to me with the various stages of life, particularly during pregnancy and post-partum, and now as I navigate my middle years….
My special areas of interest are women’s health, menopause and mental health.
I am however, passionate about all aspects of health and about helping people to feel empowered on their own journey towards feeling well, be that through diet and lifestyle, attention to mindset and of course acupuncture! I love keeping up with the latest research and learning more ways in which we can help ourselves.
My Training
I graduated from The Acupuncture Academy in 2023 and was awarded a Distinction for their Professional Licentiate in Acupuncture, which is a three year degree qualification accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board. My training was extensive and covered all aspects of Chinese medical and acupuncture theory, with a focus on the five element approach. This means that I will consider your main health problem, together with a holistic approach to you as an individual.
I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council and adhere to the Council’s Codes of Safe Practice and Professional conduct. British Acupuncture Council members are also registered with the Professional Standards Authority which is a government body set up to regulate health and social care providers, and is accountable to Parliament.
My clinic is licensed by Stroud District Council and I hold full medical malpractice and public/products liability insurance cover.
